For the dough:
- 4 Cups All-purpose flour (bread flower works well too)
- 1/4 Cup Granulated sugar
- 1 Pkt Active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
- 1 Tsp Salt
- 1/2 Cup Whole milk, warmed
- 1/2 Cup Unsalted butter, melted (plus more for greasing)
- 2 Large eggs
For the Filling:
- 1/2 Cup Brown sugar, packed
- 1 Tbsp Ground cinnamon
- 1/4 Cup Unsalted butter, softened
For Cream cheese frosting
- 4 Oz Cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 Cup Unsalted butter, softened
- 1 Cup Powdered sugar
- 1 Tsp Vanilla extract
- 1-2 Tbsp Milk (to reach desired consistency)
Prepare the Dough:
In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
In a separate bowl, mix the warmed milk, melted butter, and eggs. Gradually add this mixture to the flour mixture, stirring to combine.
Knead the Dough:
Add the remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, until a soft dough forms. Transfer to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
First Rise:
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Roll the Dough:
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle (about 16x12 inches). Spread the softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly on top.
Make the Frosting:
While the rolls are baking, beat together the cream cheese and butter in a bowl until smooth. Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla, mixing well. Add milk until the desired consistency is reached.
