Classic Rueben Sandwich

This classic Reuben sandwich features layers of savory corned beef, melty Swiss cheese, tangy sauerkraut, and creamy Russian dressing, all grilled to golden perfection between slices of rye bread. A quick and hearty meal that’s packed with flavor!

Equipment

  • Skillet or frying pan

  • butter knife For spreading butter
  • Cutting board for assembling

Ingredients
  

  • 2 Slices of rye bread
  • 1/4 lb Sliced corned beef
  • 2 Slices of Swiss cheese
  • 1/4 cup sauerkraut, drained
  • 1-2 tbsp Russian or Thousand Island dressing
  • 1 tbsp Butter, softened

Instructions
 

Prepare the Bread:

  • Spread Russian dressing on one side of each slice of rye bread.

Assemble the Sandwich:

  • On one slice of bread, layer a slice of Swiss cheese, corned beef, sauerkraut, and the second slice of Swiss cheese. Top with the other slice of bread, dressing side down.

Grill the Sandwich:

  • Spread softened butter on the outside of each slice of bread. Heat a skillet over medium heat and place the sandwich in the pan.

Cook to Perfection:

  • Grill for about 3-4 minutes on each side, pressing lightly with a spatula, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.

Notes

Slice in half and serve warm—enjoy your delicious, classic Reuben!
